How to get to the Miño River

Complete guide to transport, routes, and border crossings

DIRECT CROSS-BORDER ROUTES

The final stretch of the Miño river is a living, accessible natural border. Whether arriving by air to Vigo or Porto, crossing its international bridges by car, or沿着 the Atlantic coast by train, the region offers an intermodal network designed to connect both shores without complications.

Plane

Vigo airport is located 25 km from Tui; it requires bus or transfer. As a strategic alternative, Porto airport (110 km away) offers a higher volume of international flights and direct land connections via the Autna company.

Train

Get to Tui from Madrid or Vigo via the Guillarei station (10 minutes from the center). Notice due to construction: Currently, access to the Guillarei station is temporarily suspended. As a provisional alternative, you will need to travel to Vigo and continue by bus or private transfer. In Portugal, the Porto line connects with Valença. Key Routes

  • Guillarei Station: Connection on foot.
  • Atlantic Route: Porto - Valença.

Bus

From Vigo, Autna operates routes to Tui and Valença, while ATSA covers A Guarda. On the Portuguese riverbank, the Rede Expressos network underpins local transport.

  •  South connection: Valencia - Cerveira - Caminha

Ferry

A ferry crosses the estuary between Caminha (Portugal) and A Guarda (Spain), allowing passage with your own vehicle. Operation is subject to nature: it is essential to check the schedules daily, as they strictly depend on the tides.
